We have reached the final step of Radical Acceptance. We looked at the event and our feelings around the event. We discovered new information about our self and integrated that information. Next we planned a course of action. Now it is time to act.

However, with every action comes a consequence. This step calls us to accept the consequences of our action. To accept the consequences means that when there is a response to our action we say, “I accept that the response is a result of my action. I accept this and do not blame anyone else for it.”

Acting Externally

As we pointed out in the prior step, most actions are internal. However, some are external. External actions usually require some degree of courage. Setting a boundary or communicating change is rarely popular.

Acting Internally

The most common internal action is to cut cords. This is a simple and effective way of withdrawing our energy from the past, whether the past be 50 years ago or 3 minutes ago, or the future.
